How to access the DVR or NVR using SwannView Link app (hostname or IP address)?

Installing SwannView Link app

To download the app, go to Playstore or App store.
If for some reason, they can’t search it; let them go to http://www.swann.com/us/apps, look for the SwannView Link, then tap ‘For Android Devices’ or ‘For iOS devices’
- Open SwannView Link once installation is done.
Changing stream settings
For smooth live streaming, it is highly suggested to use Substream when playing the videos. We will also need to set the sub stream's bitrate to its lowest for the unit not to consume too much bandwidth.
- Go to MENU then proceed to RECORD > Encode.
- Pick a channel on Camera.
- Change Encoding Parameters to Substream.

Set the Max. BitRate (Kbps) to its lowest possible bitrate.
NOTE: lowest bitrate varies depending on the DVR or NVR.

Click on Apply to save the settings. Re-do the steps for other channels or copy (Copy To) the settings.
Getting network information
- Access the MENU and go to NETWORK > General.

Check if Network Access is on PPPoE, DHCP, or Static. By default, it is on DHCP.
- If it is on Static, do not panic! Let it be and continue asking the other information.
- Get the IP Address and take note of it.
Checking the hostname or WAN IP
- Under Advanced, get the Server, HTTP, and RTSP ports.

Click SET beside DDNS.
- If you find a hostname saved, follow how to check if ports are open guide.
- If there is none, proceed to the next step.

Connect your phone to your Wi-Fi (same router where the DVR or NVR is), open a browser, and go to www.canyouseeme.org .
- Grab the WAN IP and follow how to check if ports are open guide.
- If ports are not yet open, it needs port forwarding. Else, proceed to testing internet connection on the phone.
Testing internet connection on the phone
- Make sure that you have internet connection on your phone.
- To do so, try to stream online videos like YouTube.
Adding the device and viewing it on the app
- Tap the Add New Device icon.
- Input the information it needs.

Tap on Start Live View to save the settings and quickly load the cameras.

Did you know?
- You can tap on the QR code icon to open the camera and scan the QR code on top of the DVR or NVR.
- In order to scan quickly the QR code, place the camera from 1-2ft away and go further the code if needed. This is because of the small scanning area of the app.
