NOTE2: Recent excessive use of the Swann Auto-email service by a small number of users sending many thousands of emails a day resulting in nearly 130 million individual emails every month, has resulted in our service provider suspending the service until the email volume can be reduced to acceptable levels.
Email Alerts is a feature where the OS 5 recorder sends you an email notification depending on the trigger you enabled on the settings; most popular being the Motion triggers. The 'Setup' option on the device operating system can be configured in a number of ways including Auto, Manual email setup, and the use of Dropbox using either the free (basic) or paid service.
Due to the issue mentioned above, Email "Auto" setup option is currently suspended and we advise our customers to use one of the alternative options below.
We strongly recommend you choose one of the alternative options provided with your Swann Security account; if you haven't created a Swann Security account yet, visit this article first: Pair your Recorder on Swann Security app
Cloud Storage (or Dropbox)
This feature will use your Dropbox as online storage to save clips from up to two cameras or snapshots from all of your cameras, depending on the features enabled on your recorder. You will need to have Swann Security app installed and a Swann Security account to set this up.
Be aware that the total recording capacity depends on your Dropbox account although Dropbox offers a free account that comes with 2GB of storage.
To help you set up Cloud Storage, you may visit this article: Setup Cloud Storage
Email Alerts (Setup: Manual)
Change 'Setup' and choose Manual to allow the recorder use your Internet Providers email settings to send alerts to the Recipient. You can use the same email address as the recipient if you want.

NOTE: Due to Google's recent changes with the use of Less Secure Apps (Service is now shutdown - read the article HERE), we recommend the use of Google App Password instead to continue using Gmail as your sender. Please visit this article to get you started: Use Gmail as Sender for email alerts
This gives you a quick notification on your phone/tablet the moment something is detected but be aware that this doesn't send you pictures of what triggered it. If you are already a Swann Security app user, then the setup here will be easy.

This is a 3rd party service, just like Dropbox, but focuses on no-code automation. Swann Security can use this service to send you email when there's movement detected.
