Changing and selecting the best Wireless Channel
Wireless routers operate on different channels within the wireless spectrum. Switching to a less crowded channel can improve performance by avoiding interference from neighbouring networks.
How to look for the best channel to use?
-
Using an Android device
- Install the Wifi Analyzer or WiFi Analyzer on Google Play store.
- Tap the ‘eye’ icon at the top and select Channel Rating
- Select the SSID of your router from the list. The app will then recommend the better channel to use based on the available free channel spectrum.
-
Using a Windows PC
- Similar to Android, WiFi Analyzer by Matt Hafner can be installed from the Microsoft Store.
- Once installed, open the app and go to the Analyze tab.
- use the channel with the least number of wireless connections (SSID). On this example, channels 5, 6, 11, and 12 are less more free and less congested. Please not that channel 13 is usually not available to select unless your router is set to Japan region.
-
iPhone or iPad
- Note: Currently no app similar to the above is available in the Apple App Store.
Change the channel of the wireless router
Please refer to your router’s manual on how to change the 2.4Ghz channel or seek advice from a technical professional.

To change, login to the device console Menu and navigate to Network > Wireless Camera (tab).
Region: Click the drop-down menu and select your region.
Wireless Band Selection: Click the drop-down menu and select “Manual”.
Wireless Channel: Click the drop-down menu and use the better channel identified above or channel 13 (this is available to select on our device regardless of your region). Click the “Apply” button to save.
