Temporary stop beeping
- To (temporarily) stop the DVR beeping, start by using the mouse and right-clicking on the screen to show the Menu options window. There, select the Stop Beep option.
- However, do not ignore the beeping noise that was coming from your DVR after turning it off. The beeping noise is telling you that the DVR has detected a problem somewhere in its setup.
- You can now check the following:
Checking CVBS Output (skip this step if the model is not DVR-1500)
- For USA and Canada customers, make sure that the CVBS Output Standard is set to NTSC. For UK and Australian customers, the CVBS Output Standard should be set on PAL. Go to Configuration > General.
Checking Exceptions from the unit itself
- If the camera/s and the DVR are not using the same output standard, it will cause the DVR to make an alarm or beeping noise. This is handled by the "Input/Output Video Standard Mismatch" error type.
- To turn off the alarm, go to Configuration > Exception. Uncheck the Audio Warning option and Save.
- If Input/Output Video Standard Mismatch did not do the trick, check each exception one by one.
- Take note what Exceptions has the Audible Warning enabled.
- Turn off Audible Warning one by one to identify which one is causing the beeping sound
- Make sure to enable those again once you’ve identified and solved the problem
- Solving the problem is not just to disable Audible Warning, you need to do something about it.
- Say HDD Error was the problem, do troubleshooting that relates to the HDD.
Turning off Exceptions via Swannview Plus software
- Install the Swannview Plus software and add the DVR/NVR under Device management.
- Go to Control Panel > Device Management.
- Go to Remote Configuration and go to Exception.
-
Go to the Exception Type, select Video Standard Mismatch. Uncheck the Audio Warning option and hit the Save button.
- If this did not do the trick, check each exception one by one.
- Take note what Exceptions has the Audible Warning enabled.
- If HDD Error was the problem, do troubleshooting that relates to the hard drive.
- Turn off Audible Warning one by one to identify which one is causing the beeping sound.
- Make sure to enable those again once you’ve identified and solved the problem.
- Solving the problem is not just to disable Audible Warning, you need to do something about it.
Turning off Audible Warning for Motion Detection via Swannview Plus software
- Install the Swannview Plus software and add the DVR/NVR under Device management.
- Go to Control Panel > Camera Settings.
- On each camera (in this example, it is channel 1), click MOTION DETECTION.
- If Audible Warning box is ticked, this means that the camera will trigger the DVR to beep because there is a motion detected.
- If this annoys the customer, un-tick the box and make sure to explain to them the purpose of this action.
How to do it on the unit itself?
- If you do it on the DVR/NVR itself, just go to MENU > CAMERA MANAGEMENT > MOTION > MOTION DETECTION.
- Click the settings icon then go to Linkage Action.
- If Audible Warning box is ticked, this means that the camera will trigger the DVR to beep because there is a motion detected.
- If this annoys you, un-tick the box.
