Will any BNC cable work on my DVR cameras?
Answer: No.
If you upgraded your DVR or camera,
If you have upgraded your camera to one that is compatible with your current recorder, we recommend that you use the cable that came with the camera kit. The latest cameras equipped with PIR/motion detection, 4K video resolution, or a built-in microphone require the use of Swann Purple BNC cables that are included in the kit. Other Swann BNC cables (such as Blue, Light Blue, Yellow, White, Black) are not fully compatible and may limit the functionality of your cameras.
See this article Different BNC colors to know more about different types of Swann BNC cables.
If you have BNC cables from a third-party provider
Swann has never tested third-party camera cables with our recorders; therefore, their compatibility is uncertain. There is no guarantee that certain camera features, such as PIR/motion detection, will work when non-Swann cables are used. For troubleshooting and to ensure the full functionality of the camera's features, we strongly recommend using the original Swann cables provided in the Swann security system kit.
Should you wish to extend the camera cables, please check for availability of compatible BNC cables at Swann.com > Products > Wired Home Security Systems > Accessories. These cables are compatible with our Swann 4K PRO cameras.
