How to stop insects and bugs from triggering my cameras? Follow
Flying insects and nighttime bugs are attracted to the lights around your camera system. At close range, they will trigger the sensors to detect and record motion as the light bounces off them toward the camera.
Swann cameras come with either infrared lights for night vision or floodlights/spotlight as deterrent features. Turning them off may not be the ideal way to stop insects and bugs as it affects night vision quality.
A few methods can help to minimize insects from interfering with your security cameras without affecting night vision:
- Bug repellent solution around the lens of the camera. Ensure not to get such solution on the camera lens.
- Set up a spotlight or stronger light source pointing away from the camera's view but close enough to distract the insects.
- Set up an outdoor bug zapper with a stronger light than the camera's. Placement should not be in the camera's view nor interfere with the PIR sensor.
