There are different types of standalone cameras:
- Indoor cameras can be placed on a flat surface without the need to drill and then screw to mount. It can also be mounted on a ceiling, or walls as long as there's a platform for it stand or mounted.
If the a pan & tilt camera is mounted to high, it will have difficulty to point down based on how it was designed. Best to mount it on a ceiling instead. - Outdoor cameras have no problem being mounted on a ceiling or under eaves.
- Floodlight cameras are ideally mounted on a wall. It can be on a ceiling, but the camera angle will be too limited.
- Cameras with integrated solar-panel (SWIFI-SESOL2KBC) is best used outside and exposed to the sun, albeit you can still mount it indoors if you like
If mounted upside down, you can flip the image horizontally (Mirror) and vertically (Flip) in the camera's settings within the app.
- In Swann Security app, tap
- Select your camera
- Tap
- Enable both Mirror and Flip
SWIFI-SESOL2KBC doesn't support Mirror and Flip due to its intended use and design
Enable both and you'll rotate the image 180 degrees.
