How to Factory Reset a Standalone Camera
If your Swann standalone camera suddenly stops working, you might think a factory reset is the fastest fix—but it should actually be your last troubleshooting step. A factory reset restores your camera to its original default settings, erasing your Wi-Fi details, account info, and configurations. Before you reset, it’s best to check your power supply, Wi-Fi connection, and app version first.
Knowing how and when to factory reset a Swann camera ensures you solve issues correctly without losing valuable settings.

How to Factory Reset a Standalone Camera
Before You Reset: Try These First
If your camera was working before but suddenly stopped, try these quick checks before doing a reset:
- Make sure your internet and power connections are stable.
- Restart your router and camera.
- Check if your Swann Security app and firmware are updated.
- Confirm your camera appears online in the app.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, proceed with a factory reset.
BEWARE: A successful factory reset will reboot the camera, revert all the camera's local settings to default, clear local clips and set it to pairing mode (slow blinking blue LED or a voice saying "Ready for pairing"). The camera won't be unpaired to your account.

Why You Should Only Reset as a Last Step
Performing a factory reset can fix deep configuration or connection issues—but it also wipes all saved data, recordings, and preferences. Many common problems (like Wi-Fi dropouts or outdated firmware) can be fixed without resetting. Use this step only after ruling out other causes, so you don’t erase your setup unnecessarily.
