Get the Recovery Code
You’ll need HomeSafe View software to retrieve the recovery code from your recorder.
Download and install HomeSafe View to your PC or Mac. You can get the installer here
When you open it the first time, you will be greeted by the Wizard shown in the screenshot; if not, click
This is the Wizard. Click
On this step, click
A new window will appear. If both recorder and computer are connected properly to the router, the recorder should appear on this list. Try clicking if it doesn't show.
Select your recorder then take note of the MAC Address which will appear on the right—that is the Recovery Code.
Why this helps? HomeSafe View acts as the bridge between your computer and the recorder, making it possible to read the recovery code.
If that didn’t work: Confirm your firewall or antivirus isn’t blocking the app, and make sure your recorder is online and visible on the network.
Entering the Recovery Code on the Recorder
Now that you have the recovery code, you can use it to reset your recorder’s password.
On your recorder's login screen, click
Enter the recovery code (MAC address), but use colons instead of dashes. It should look like this: BC:51:FE:11:22:33
Click
Once done, the Startup Wizard will appear again which will let you enter a new password for the recorder. Make sure to take note of this password and keep it on a safe place.
Click to save the password, then complete the set up.

Why this helps? The recovery code verifies that you’re the rightful owner of the recorder, ensuring security while resetting the password.
