How to Pair Your Stand-alone Camera Using the Swann Security App

Swann Security app, available on both Android and iOS devices, is used to pair many of Swann's stand-alone cameras like the Xtreem4K™ Wire-Free Security Camera and SwannBuddy4K™ Video Doorbell. The same app is used on our existing recorders such as NVR-8580 and DVR-5580 to be accessed remotely once the network connection is settled on the unit.
FAQ: Can I View My Stand-alone Camera on a PC or Mac
However, there are minor differences since they are still two completely different products. That being said, this article will focus on guiding you on how to pair your Swann compatible IP Camera.
Before we start, you need to make sure that:
- Swann Security app is downloaded.
- You have registered and logged in your Swann Security account.
- The phone/tablet you're using is currently connected to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi where the camera or doorbell will be connected to. (optional)
NOTE: If you got stuck in any step of the pairing process or at the end, you weren't able to pair the device, try factory resetting it. Enter the model number to this article see the exact instruction on how to factory reset: How to Factory Reset a Stand-alone camera. Once done, try pairing it again.
NOTE: The camera used in this guide is a SWIFI-SEVDBC and it was paired using Swann Security v4.2.16 in Android. Other compatible cameras will have a similar setup.
Tap Menu (upper left) then select Pair Device.
Tap Next.
Scan the QR code sticker attached to your camera. (see Where to get the QR Code for pairing in Swann Security app)
(If you don't have its QR code, tap Manual Pair and get the MAC Address above the Serial number then click HERE)
Check the reminders before tapping Next, then select which store you purchased your unit to proceed.
Once you reach this step, make sure the selected 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is where you want the camera to be connected, then enter the Wi-Fi password then tap Next. If a prompt appeared to allow a permission, accept it to make it easy for you to complete the setup.
Caution:
- Ensure your router's WiFi password does not contain certain special characters. See this link: Swann Security App pairing Wi-Fi cameras: Special characters on WiFi credentials
- Your router's WiFi signal must be 2.4GHz. See this link: How do I tell whether my router's WiFi signal is 2.4GHz or 5GHz for pairing a SWIFI camera?
Enter your desired camera name.
Tap Next.
Check if the camera is on Pairing Mode. The LED should be blue and blinking slowly.
Tap Yes when it is in Pairing Mode.
If not, tap No and follow the instruction on how to set it to Pairing mode.
NOTE: The camera will be in pairing mode if it was factory reset correctly and is receiving sufficient power supply or battery charge.
Your phone will now connect to the camera's WIFI.
Tap Start to proceed. If a prompt appears showing the SSID of your device (last 6 characters are the last 6 characters of its MAC Address), select it to connect.
If you encounter a failed error, see one of the following relevant to the error you are getting:
Once connected successfully, it will proceed in connecting it to your Wi-Fi and pairing it to your account.
While finishing the setup, an overview of what you can do in the app will appear
Once done, tap Next.
You will get this message once setup is complete.
You may now enjoy viewing your camera even when you are away.
To Manually add your device instead of scanning a QR code, choose your device from the list shown on the app.
Enter its MAC Address (e.g. 74ee2abbcc33) located at the sticker, above the serial number. Tap on Next then Start.
Click HERE to continue the setup.
