Where to get the model number? Follow
To get the model number of your Swann unit, you must first identify what kind of unit do you have
- Recorder - such as DVRs and NVRs
- Camera - needs a recorder to capture and save footages
- IP Camera - just a camera; no recorder needed
To get the model number of your system, you can check any of the following:
Sticker on the unit
For recorders, you can check it underneath the code usually starts with SW / SR followed by DVR or NVR or just DVR / NVR then a 'dash' or 'hyphen' then some numbers.
For cameras or IP cameras, either it is below, underneath the base, or at the back of the camera.
On this example, this is an IP camera and the model was found underneath the base.
On the Main Menu
This applies to DVRs or NVRs only. You need to access your Main Menu then go to System then Information. Below is a sample from a DVR8-5580 unit.
On the Packaging box
Alternatively, you can give us the kit code from the box instead and we will know what unit do you have. Below is a sample from a 2x SWIFI-SPOTCAM packaging. This code is located at the bottom of the box.
Using the app
This method is only applicable to units that use Swann Security app and if it has been paired on the Swann Security account.
You must go to Settings (at the lower right) then select your device (if you only have 1x Swann unit, it will automatically select that device). Swipe all the way to the bottom then tap on Technical Details then check the Model.
NOTE: The following are NOT model numbers:
- N3960
- H264
- S/No numbers
