How to Enter the Recovery Code on Your Swann Security Recorder
Please avoid using simple passwords like "admin" or "1234"; these common patterns are the first things hackers test, and using them leaves your personal data and account access vulnerable to instant automated theft.
If you’re locked out of your Swann Security recorder and need to reset your password, this guide will walk you through how to enter your recovery code — also known as the MAC Address — to regain access.
Things to Prepare
- Make sure that the model number of your recorder is listed above.
- You’ll need the MAC Address of your recorder. If you don’t have it yet, follow this guide first to retrieve it.
Step-by-Step Guide
Right-click to open the Menu bar, click the button (bottom-left), then
Once the login prompt appears, click
If you haven't set a recipient email address before, that's OK; as long you have the MAC Address with you.
Click
Enter the MAC Address following this format (e.g. BC:51:FE:11:22:33) then click
A prompt will appear saying the password has been reset. Click to proceed in setting a new password.
Set a new password, then click
A prompt will appear to confirm your action. Click to complete the set up.
If That Didn’t Work, Try This:
-
Check formatting: Make sure that the characters are separated by colons like this
BC:51:FE:11:22:33. - Double-check the MAC Address: Make sure you have entered the characters correctly; no mis-click or double enter of characters.

- Accessed the password reset interface
- Entered your recovery code (MAC Address)
- Set a new password
If the recovery code isn’t being accepted, double check again if your recorder's model number is listed above.
