MaxRanger4K™ App Update: Improved Live View Experience
We’ve released an update to the Swann Security iOS app that makes live viewing smoother and more reliable. Starting with this version, you’ll be able to stream up to 4 HaLow cameras at once. If you have more than 4 cameras, you can easily switch between them—just tap on another camera to start viewing, and it will replace one of the current streams.
This change helps ensure the best video performance across all devices, especially when multiple cameras are connected.
An Android app update with the same feature will be available in about two weeks.
Benefits of the Update
- Smoother Performance – Limiting live streams to 4 at once ensures faster loading times and more stable video playback.
- Longer Battery Life – Streaming fewer cameras at a time reduces power consumption, helping your cameras stay charged for longer.
- Stronger Connection – Less strain on bandwidth means clearer, more consistent video quality.
- Easier Camera Management – A simple tap lets you switch between cameras instantly, without juggling multiple unstable streams.
- Optimized for Reliability – By preventing too many streams from running at once, the system avoids latencies or slowdowns, giving you peace of mind.
- Future-Proof – This update sets the foundation for better performance as more features roll out across iOS and Android.
FAQs about the Live View Update
Which MaxRanger4K™ system will have limited streaming?
MaxRanger4K™ Base Station – NVW-MR4KSTN.
Why can I only view 4 cameras at once now?
To make live viewing smoother and more reliable, we’ve optimized the app to show up to 4 live streams at a time. This helps ensure better video quality, faster loading, and longer battery life for your cameras.
What if I want to see all my cameras at the same time?
You’ll still see all your cameras listed in the app. For accounts with more than 4 cameras, you can tap on any camera to switch it into live view. This way, you can easily rotate between cameras without overloading your connection or draining battery.
Is this a bug or a problem with my app?
No—it’s not a bug. This change is a new feature designed to improve performance and reliability.
Will this affect my camera recordings?
No. Your recordings and playback are not affected. You can still access all your recorded footage just as before.
Why not let me choose to stream more than 4 cameras if I want?
Because HaLow technology is optimized for efficiency, streaming more than 4 at once would reduce video quality and quickly drain camera batteries. Limiting to 4 ensures the best balance of performance and reliability.
Is this change permanent?
Yes, this is a permanent improvement. However, we’re always working on new features, and your feedback will continue to shape future updates.
When will Android users get this feature?
The Android app update will be available soon.
