How can I tell if some other person is logged into my cameras

If you suspect unauthorized access to your Swann security camera system, one of the first things you might look for is an activity log or audit trail to identify who accessed your devices and where. Swann’s current cloud system architecture and privacy policy limit the availability of such detailed tracking to comply with GDPR requirements as well as the Australian Privacy Act.
While Swann Security does not record nor offer access logs to your account or recorder, you can take the following steps to secure your system:
-
Change Your Account Password and Recorder Password Immediately
Ensure only trusted individuals have access to your login credentials.
See How to Change the Password of My Swann Security Account. If you do this, other mobile devices that has access to the account will be logged out after 24 hours.
See How to Change the Password of the Recorder. -
Refrain from Removing the Device from your account
In the Swann app, verify that the devices are still currently paired to your account. As long as they are still paired to your account, no one can pair it to a different account. -
Limit Shared Access
Avoid sharing login credentials and remove any unnecessary users from your account or recorder.
For recorders, see How to Enable or Disable the Guest User Access on Your Recorder. -
Search > Event logs of your Recorder via Main Menu
Recorders have a feature of logging activity and changes made. This information never gets uploaded to the cloud but is stored locally in the hard drive. It does not show IP addresses because it is not capable, but you can find timestamps of "admin login" to identify when the recorder was accessed via Main Menu or computer but not by whom. -
Disconnect the recorder from the Internet
Unplugging the ethernet cable from the recorder's LAN port guarantees that others cannot access your recorder remotely; however, this also restricts your ability to access your cameras remotely via mobile device or computer. Check your router's specifications and manual for security settings that can be applied to your cameras/system.
Regularly updating your credentials and monitoring device status are your best defenses against unauthorized access.
