Important Notice: Swann DDNS Service Shutdown
Swann will be discontinuing support for the Swann DDNS service on 30 June 2027.
DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) is a legacy remote access service that was used on some older recorder configurations to allow users to connect to their systems from outside their home or business network. Current Swann recorders typically do not require DDNS, as remote access is provided through the recorder's unique P2P ID and the Swann Security app.

The DDNS service will continue to operate until the said date. After this, Swann DDNS will no longer be available, and any remote access configuration that depends on a Swann DDNS address may stop working.
How do I know if I use DDNS?
If you are unsure whether your recorder uses Swann DDNS:
- On your recorder, go to Menu > Network > Advanced or DDNS > Domain name.
- Check whether DDNS is enabled and whether a URL is configured.
- If you see an address ending in swanndvr.net, your system is using the Swann DDNS service and may be affected by this shutdown.
If you are using a P2P ID via QR code for remote access, you are generally not using DDNS and should not be affected by this change.
What do I need to do?
Customers who currently use Swann DDNS should review their recorder and network setup before the shutdown date.
If you need to continue using a DDNS-style remote access solution after the service is discontinued, you should research and implement an alternative third-party DDNS domain provider that is suitable for your specific:
- Router and network configuration
- Internet service provider (ISP)
Please note that DDNS-style remote access typically requires a reachable public IP address and compatible router/network port forwarding settings.
