How to enable/disable guest user access in V8 DVR / NVR Follow
NOTE: This guide is for the following recorders : DVR-4480G, 4480RN, 4480V, 4580G, 4580RN, 4580V, 4680, 4680RN, 4680A, 4680X, 4680XN, 4685, 4685RN, 4780V, 4980, 5580, 5580A, 5580G, 5580G2, 5580RN, 5580RU, 5680, 5680A, 5680RN, 5680X, 5680XN, NVR-8580, 8580RN, 8780, 8780RN, NVW-650, 800
To allow other users to log in to your recorder with minimal permissions, you need to set up separate user access in the menu.
To enable guest access
- Right-click the mouse on the Live View (via TV / monitor) and go to the task bar.
- Click on the Menu and go to Setup.
- Go to System > Users.
- Click on a user# note-and-pencil icon under User Edit.
- For User Enable, choose Enable.
- Customize the User Name.
- Customize the Password. (Password must be a minimum of six characters and can contain a mixture of numbers and letters)
- Type the same password beside Confirm.
- Click on Save.
- Under Authentication, type your admin password (not the one you just created).
- Click on Authenticate.
- Configure Permissions by clicking on the gear icon beside the newly enabled user.
- Check the box where you will allow the user to see or make changes.
- Check the box where you will allow the user to see or make changes.

Enable the following if you only want to give viewing access without formatting:
- Live Analog Channels
- Playback Analog Channels
- Remote Login
- Enable the following if you want users to manually record or take pictures:
- Manual Record
- Manual Capture
Note: Guest users of your recorder cannot pair the recorder to their own Swann Security account if the recorder is already paired to your account. See Error code 2002: Device already paired: How do I pair my camera to another phone?
To disable guest access
- Right-click the mouse on the Live View (via TV / monitor) and go to the task bar.
- Click on the Menu and go to Setup.
- Go to System > Users.
- Click on a user# note-and-pencil icon under User Edit.
- For User Enable, choose Disable.
- Click on Save.
