How to Pair a MaxRanger4K™ Add-on Camera or Doorbell

This guide shows you how to pair a MaxRanger4K™ Add-on Camera or Doorbell to your Power Hub (NVW-MR4K) or Base Station (NVW-MR4KSTN) using the Swann Security app or via the Power Hub's interface (not applicable for Base Station).
Things to Prepare
- You must have a paired MaxRanger4K™ Power Hub or Base Station on your Swann Security account
- Not yet paired? Visit this article (if you have a Power Hub) or scan the Base Station's QR code and follow the on-screen instructions
- Make sure that the add-on camera or doorbell is charged.
- Ensure the add-on camera or doorbell is near the hub or station during pairing.
- Choose Your Phone Type
Pairing Options
Scan the QR code (if camera has one)
You need to have a MaxRanger4K™ Power Hub or Base Station paired to your Swann Security account in order to use the camera as it is not a standalone, but an add-on camera to a MaxRanger4K™ system.
For Android users, open Swann Security app then tap then
Tap
Scan the QR code of the camera.
It will open your Hub or Station's device settings. Click here to continue
For iOS users, open Swann Security app then tap then
Tap
Scan the QR code of the camera.
It will open your Hub or Station's device settings – Status & Pairing
A prompt will appear, informing you to tap on on any available channel of your Hub or Station.
Pairing Using the Swann Security App
Best for users who has the MaxRanger4K™ Base Station or already accessing their MaxRanger4K™ system via the app.
Open the Swann Security app and tap on your MaxRanger4K™ Hub or Station's settings.
In the settings, go to
Tap on any available channel.
A list of compatible cameras will appear. Tap your camera model.
Follow the on-screen instructions to put your camera in pairing mode:
- Press and hold the button on the camera.
- Once the LED starts blinking blue, release the button.
- Why this helps: The blinking blue LED confirms the camera is discoverable by the hub.
Tap in the app and wait a few seconds.
Once pairing is successful, tap
Open the Swann Security app and tap on your MaxRanger4K™ Hub or Station's settings.
In the settings, go to
Tap on any available channel.
A list of compatible cameras will appear. Tap your camera model.
Follow the on-screen instructions to put your camera in pairing mode:
- Press and hold the button on the camera.
- Once the LED starts blinking blue, release the button.
- Why this helps: The blinking blue LED confirms the camera is discoverable by the hub.
Tap in the app and wait a few seconds.
Once pairing is successful, tap < to go back to Status & Pairing.
Pairing via the Power Hub (optional)
Ideal for users who have the Power Hub (NVW-MR4K) and prefer physical interfaces. Requires mouse + monitor connected to the hub
From Live View, click the camera icon at the top-right of an empty channel.
The hub will enter pairing mode and start scanning.
On the add-on camera, press and hold the SET button for 5 seconds.
When the LED starts blinking blue, release the button.
Wait a few moments—the camera feed will appear once pairing is complete.
Why this helps: This process ensures the hub directly detects a camera in pairing mode.
Pairing via the Base Station (optional)
MaxRanger4K™ Base Station Pairing Mode
- Press and hold the CAM button on the Base Station.
- When the blue LED begins blinking, release the button.
MaxRanger4K™ Add-on Pairing Mode
- Press and hold the SET button on the camera.
- When the blue LED begins blinking, release the button.
- Wait for two beeps.
- The camera will automatically pair with an available channel.
Troubleshooting and Fallback Options
If pairing doesn’t work the first time, try these quick fixes:
LED Not Blinking Blue?
- Hold the SET button for a full 5 seconds.
- Make sure the camera is powered on and within 10 feet of the hub.
Still Not Pairing?
- Restart both the hub and the camera.
- Try a different channel on the hub.
- Double-check that you're using a MaxRanger4K™-compatible add-on camera.
