Check your model number first
To ensure that this article is suitable for your system, you'll need to obtain the model number of your camera first. There are different ways of finding the model number, which are all mentioned in this article, but the quickest way is by accessing the Menu of the recorder, then select Display > IP Channels. The Device Type shows the model number of your camera.

- Go to your recorder's Menu.
- Select Display, then IP Channel.
- Check the column labeled Software Version
Is your camera's firmware the same?
If YES, you can STOP as it already has the latest version available;
otherwise (NO), you can proceed to the next step
WAIT! Check this first
- The NVR must have the latest firmware. If you haven't checked yet, you can visit How to Update Your Recorder Firmware: A Step-by-Step Guide first to ensure that the NVR has the latest firmware version available.
- Update each camera individually to minimize the chance of an incomplete update. If a camera's update fails initially, retry the update process for that camera; typically, it will complete on the second try. This method ensures thorough updates without interruptions across your camera network.
- Verify the live feed after each update to ensure the camera remains operational. If you observe any issues, refrain from proceeding with further updates. This ensures that your system remains stable and functional without interruptions.
- Installing the update may reset the camera settings - this may also affect motion detection settings. Verify your camera settings after the update process and reconfigure as required.
Download the firmware to a USB
Click the link below^ to download the firmware for your recorder.
NOTE: We recommend using a flash drive with a FAT32 file format. A 32GB flash drive or below has FAT32 file format by default; this ensures that it will be detected by the recorder.
Insert the USB into your recorder
Connect your USB flash drive to any available USB port on your recorder.
Apply the firmware to the recorder
Access the Menu and go to Advanced > Maintain then click on IP Cam Upgrade.
Select the firmware you saved, then click OK.
Tip: If the recorder is unable to read the copied files but the drive is properly recognized, click the Format option (which will erase everything on your USB) then save the firmware file again.
Choose the channel or camera that will receive the update. Click on OK to proceed with the update.
WARNING! Don't turn off the recorder while updating.
Once done, this prompt will appear to indicate that the update is complete.
Tip: If any cameras experience issues, restart them and attempt the process again. If the problem persists, reinstall the existing firmware and retry the upgrade. For additional help, reach out to our support team.
