How to Playback and Export Recordings with Swann Security (VMX) on PC

NOTE: If you don't have the software yet, read this article first to set it up: How to Set Up Swann Security (VMX) for PC

Adjust Settings

You need to change this setting in Swann Security (VMX) to download an AVI format of the video so it is playable on most media player such as VLC.

1. Open Swann Security (VMX) then go to System Config
2. Set the Playback Download Format to MP4
   Optional: Change the Download Path to your preferred location.
3. Click Apply to save any changes.

Playback

1. Go to Home then select Playback
2. Under Basic tab, choose a channel you want to search recordings from
3. Choose a date in the calendar that has a red marking
4. Click Search — The timeline on the right will load.
5. Select a time to start playing a clip.

Export

1. To choose a recording you want to download, click the Download button
2. Select a recording by ticking the checkbox
3. Click Download to save the file on your computer.
4. Once downloading is complete, you can click the path to play the clip with your default media player.
