How to Pair Your Recorder Using the Swann Security app
Swann Security app, available on both Android and iOS devices, is used to pair many of Swann's new products like the Wi-Fi Floodlight Security Camera, Spotlight Outdoor Security Camera, or even our upcoming products such as Wire-Free Security Camera and Pan & Tilt Security Camera. The same app is used on our existing recorders such as NVR-8580 and DVR-5580 to be accessed remotely once the network connection is settled on the unit.
However, there are minor differences since they are still two completely different products. That being said, this article will focus on guiding you on how to pair your Swann compatible recorder with V8 Firmware.
- To check if your recorder has V8 firmware, access its Menu then go to System > Information and look for the Software Version. If it starts with V8, you may proceed below.
NOTE: If your recorder is listed above, but the latest firmware that you have is V7, contact our technical support team to guide you on updating your unit.
Before we start, you need to make sure that you not only download the app, but also register an account.
Tap Menu (upper left) then select Pair Device.
Tap Start.
Scan the QR code sticker attached to your camera. (see Where to get the QR Code for pairing in Swann Security app)
If you only have the UID with you, can go to websites that generates QR code such as https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/ to make a QR code for your UID.
Enter your desired recorder name.
Tap Next.
Once added, you will then need to enter the recorder's username and password (e.g. username is admin and password is password); not your Swann Security account then hit on Next.
If you encounter an error, see:
- Swann Security App pairing error: Failed to verify credentials / Failed to connect to device, retrying
- Mobile/Computer access: What is the media or client port?
- Remote Access - Basic Router/Network Troubleshooting
- Error: The device you are trying to pair is already registered to another account
You may now enjoy viewing your recorder even when you are away.
